MeyMey’s Fall Fashion line up for Men!by MeyMey (October 29, 2006) Women always tend to believe that men have it so much easier with respect to personal maintenance, grooming, dressing and basically everyday living. It’s not that simple for the gents, especially the ones who care about their appearance and take pride in the way they look. To those men, I salute you! Read on, my handsome fashion conscience observers! First let me give you some fashion don’ts and we’ll take it from there. The last thing I want is an email telling me that you appreciate my column, yet ask me if it’s ok to wear socks with sandals this fall. Ahkay, that’s a negative bro. As the temperatures drop and the warm summer heat says goodbye, it’s really time to let go of those sandals. If you’re dying to wear sandals that badly, then friggin move to a warmer climate; that is unacceptable. I grew up in a town where this was considered perfectly normal, and for this reason I have been traumatized and have zero tolerance. Ok moving right along to overly branded labels. Anyone who is familiar with my column knows that I cannot stand blaring brand names. Barf! I don’t care if it’s a Gucci Shirt made of diamonds; if you come near me in that, it’s now official that we can never be friends. Same thing goes for novelty garments such as cartoon ties, Hawaiian shirts and boxers. Unless you’re under the age of 9, this is truly sad and I am forced to believe that you had a traumatic experience as a child which led you to wear that Simpson’s tie. Now that we got the worst out of the way, I want to talk to you about the basics. Keep a couple striped button downs in your closet this fall. The vertical striped shirt is too very versatile and can be worn with jeans, with a tie, a sweater, and a suit. Very flattering and photographs well (Facebook)! On the corporate side of things, please honor thy tailor! This is the most important thing for a man to do when buying a suit. Make sure that stunner fits! Pants should be the correct length, as well as sleeves. Jackets should hug your manly shoulders and torso appropriately and the entire suit should fit you fabulously. You don’t have to be a slave to fashion to get this right. It’s really quite simple. Your Stylist Truly, Meytal About the Author
