Attention Fashionistas!!!!!!by MeyMey (October 3, 2007) Hello Ladies! I left you for the summer but my column is back just in time to save you from making some huge fashion faux pas for the turn of the season! Well it’s that time of year again ladies. As the summer season comes to an end, and the fall fashions start to make their way onto our streets, clubs and offices, we find ourselves embracing the end of the warm summer and welcoming the new boots of fall to make their way into our closets. Let me start by saying there is no need to panic over what to wear this season; you’ll have a great turnover with last fall/winter fashions as our previous year trends are still relevant and going strong. This year however, fall is a little more vibrant with lots of bold colors coming in, slacks becoming wider and waistlines moving high above the belly and practically at the breasts. Embrace these styles my pretties, they only emphasize your womanly shape and contribute to your exquisite femininity. Gray, plaid, metallic silver and gold are still very consistent this season and patent leather is the way to shine at the moment. Let me begin by taking you from the top and working my way to the bottom. Living in Toronto is amazing, but freakin cold! If you, like myself, are in a cold climate, knitted hats, big floppy toques and barrettes are mega-stylish and ultra cutie cute. Big men’s style sweaters are the hotness right now. Pair that with a long oversized coat and you’re good to go. Or, my favorite is a super fitted short jacket over top of a big flowing draped shirt or oversize sweater. Light pashminas and scarves can also really polish off this look. It’s really straight- forward ladies; I’m giving you options here. Let’s make it happen! Ok let’s talk about handbags. The everyday bag is still a great tote and duffel. big in size, bigger in style. Don’t get caught up in Gucci; H&M has some unreal handbags that are both beautiful and functional. Get into an elegant clutch for nighttime, or simply give your I.D, lip gloss, and cash to your BFF. I’m sure she won’t mind! Going south, the pants of fall are definitely wider legged and higher waisted. Don’t fret; skinny jeans are still acceptable and reasonably key in our wardrobe. Multi colored vibrant skinny and straight–legged pants and jeans are out of control in green, red, pink, orange, white and pretty much any other color you can think of. These styles are not for everyone, so don’t let the store windows and racks dictate your style. Wear what works for you, what flatters your beautiful body and ultimately what you feel fantastic in. Even though it’s colder these days, short skirts and pencil skirts have been featured in many great fashion magazines. Pair these looks with some thick gray or black tights/leggings. If you’re feeling bold and extra confident, some colorful tights can turn lots of heads if styled properly with cultivated taste and natural ease. Alrighty, moving along, let’s get you straight with your footwear. Stacked heels are extremely sexy and in the now so don’t be too conservative. The extra height of this season’s platforms (yes that’s right, I said platforms) will look crazy hot with your wide leg pants. Ankle boots and flats are still hangin out so keep on rockin them. The wedged heel is hot as hell and has smoothly sailed through last season into this season. Ok now that I have given you the hotness, you should be good and ready for fall. If you have read my column before you know how I feel about style. It’s not something that can be dictated. You have guidelines and fashion forecasters that help you; after that, you’re on your own!
